Visakhapatnam: IT giant Infosys will start operations from its Visakhapatnam premises on June 28, sources said. A building with basic infrastructure at hill no. 2 has been completed at the IT SEZ, Rushikonda.
The company will initially start with 650 employees and later add 1,000 more, the sources added. The company has already invited people working in enterprise applications, software development and IT-enabled services to join the company as per the statements issued by the officials at the recent CII meeting.
The city has already been tipped to become the
capital of Andhra Pradesh which could attract investors in the IT field. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy laid the foundation stone for Adani Data Centre on May 3 which would be established at a cost of Rs 14,634 crore. The Data Centre is expected to provide employment to over 25,000 youths.
In addition, other big giants in the IT sector Wipro, Microsoft, IBM and TCS are also planning to start operations from Visakhapatnam. The representatives of these companies have already met Chief Minister Reddy recently.
