Word that IT companies in the city are resuming work from office starting Monday next week has begun doing the rounds.  In a tweet that has been doing the rounds on Thursday evening, it said: 'First-hand news! To report from - Oct 4, 2021. Software Cos in Cyberabad & Financial dist make one-on-one enquiries with staff to ascertain whether their staff have taken the second jab and direct them to come to office from Monday.

However, both government officials and IT employees say that they have not heard of any company advising its employees for vaccination or asking them to come to office from October 4.

Denying this claim, state principal secretary IT Jayesh Ranjan told Deccan Chronicle that the information in the online message was not true.

'Everything given in the message is wrong. We are encouraging people to work from office, but there has been no instruction issued to companies asking

them to check on the vaccination status. There will be no such thing. Most companies that I have interacted with have agreed to having fully vaccinated employees,' he said.

IT employee associations too say they have not heard of any such instruction. Rather, IT companies have made it clear that they would work from office only by the next year.

'As per the information we received, and from the surveys we conducted, IT companies would call their employees back to the office from next year, possibly the second week of January onwards,' said Kiran of the Hyderabad Software Enterprises' Association (HYSEA).

Similarly, founder of the Telangana IT Association Sandeep Kumar Makhtala said, 'IT companies have learnt that the existing work-from-home model is more economical. They are saving close to `5,700 per chair. So the idea of calling the staff back to work right now is far-fetched.'
