The IT industry in Telangana is all set to get new addresses. The sector is spreading its wings across the State and moving away from the hustle and bustle of the capital city. The already growing IT workforce will now get to work in new and developing destinations of the State.

In order to make technology and IT-related jobs available to the skilled workforce in cities beyond Hyderabad, many IT companies are eyeing a place in the new IT hubs that are coming up in tier-2 and tier-3 cities of the State. These cities offer a skilled workforce, low-cost infrastructure, and also low logistics costs for the companies.

More than 50 companies have already set up shop in the IT hubs in Karimnagar, Warangal, and Khammam, and 31 more companies are lined up to set up their centre in Khammam alone. These 31 companies have put in their application since December 2020 alone, a top official from the IT Department has said.

Companies like Cyient, Tech Mahindra and other leading IT and ITeS companies have already set up their centres in these hubs and have been operating successfully for the last few years. Meanwhile, Siddipet is



getting ready to unveil its 1.2 lakh sqft IT tower, which will employ 1,200 people. In addition, cities like Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar are also set to unveil their IT towers spread across 50,000 sqft each, which will, in turn, employ 1,000 employees in total.

“Our priority is to take IT and its allied sectors to the tier-2 and tier-3 cities of the State. We want to tap the untapped potential that these cities offer in terms of skilled workforce and also low cost of infrastructure. We believe that the next step of progress for the State IT sector will come from these cities as the capital city gets more and more populated,” Vijay Rangineni, CEO, IT Investments. told press.

Penetrating even deeper into the hinterlands, Nalgonda, Wanaparthy, and Ramagundam will witness the next IT expansion. According to Rangineni, the land acquisition for setting up the IT tower in Nalgonda is currently underway, and it is going to be one of the largest centres with a seating capacity of 1,500-2,000 seats.

In total, these nine cities will employ more than 9,000 skilled workforce and also create indirect employment for thousands more.
