New Delhi: The Centre yesterday said the use of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) has been increasing in the country. More than one crore PNG connections have been provided by the City Gas Distribution (CGD) entities till 31th January this year.
In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said PNG connections are provided as per Minimum Work Programme (MWP) mandated Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) and
techno-commercial feasibility.
He said more than 22 thousand kilometer of PNG pipeline is operational and around 13 thousand kilometers of pipeline is under construction till the end of last year.
The Minister said CGD entities will provide 12.33 crore PNG connections across the country by 2030. The total length of CGD network laid rose from 1.38 lakh inch Kilometers in 2018 to 4.27 lakh inch Kilometers in December 2022.
