Petrol price has been hiked by 28 paise per litre, while diesel price cut by 6 paise a litre excluding VAT. The new rate came into effect midnight last night.
Petrol will now cost 64 rupees 57 paise a litre in Delhi, 67 rupees 61 paise in Kolkata, 71 rupees in Mumbai and 64 rupees 13 paise in Chennai. For diesel, the consumer will have
to pay 52 rupees 51 paise per litre in Delhi, 54 rupees 83 paise in Kolkata, 58 rupees 3 paise in Mumbai and 53 rupees 98 paise in Chennai.
In a statement, Indian Oil Corporation said, the international prices of petrol and diesel and rupee-dollar exchange rate warrant an increase in petrol and decrease in diesel prices.
