With the ambitious aim of One Nation, One Grid and One Tariff the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has issued notification for levelized Unified Tariffs which will come into effect from 1st April 2023.
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri informed on Thursday that this is much awaited reform in the natural gas sector.
PNGRB has notified a levelized Unified tariff of 73.93 rupees per MBTU (Metric Million British Thermal Unit). The rates will be implemented as per three tariff zones in the entire gas network of the country.
The Union Minister said this
decision will provide a major boost to economic development of all regions of the country.
He said the reform will specially benefit the consumers located in the far-flung areas where currently the additive tariff is applicable.
Mr. Puri further added that it will facilitate development of gas markets and vision of the government to increase the gas utilization in the country.
The First Tariff zone will be reckoned up to 300 Kms from Gas source, the second is 300 km to 1200 km & the third zone is beyond 1200 km from the Gas source.
