Retail inflation, based on Consumer Price Index (CPI), stood at 4.81 percent in June this year.
According to the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation data released today, the Consumer Food Price Index (CFPI) for the last month rises to 4.49 percent as compared to 2.91 percent in May, mainly due to a rise
in vegetable prices.
Rural inflation stood at 4.72 percent in June while urban inflation was at 4.96 percent for the reported period.
CPI for June remained within the RBI's tolerance band of 2-6 percent for the fourth consecutive month.
