In view of the price hike of onions, the Centre yesterday started the retail sale of the kitchen staple at a subsidized rate of 35 rupees per kilogram in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai. The onions will be sold through mobile vans and National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Limited (NCCF) retail shops in these areas. 

In Delhi-NCR, the sale through mobile vans will take place at 38 locations, including Krishi Bhawan, NCUI complex, Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, Patel Chowk Metro Station, CGO, Noida, and Ghaziabad. Union



Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Prahlad Joshi, flagged off the mobile vans at Krishi Bhawan in the national capital. 

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Joshi said that the government intends to roll out the scheme in Kolkata, Bhubaneswar, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Guwahati, and Raipur in the coming days. The Minister also said that the government has intervened with the Price Stabilisation Fund to control the price hike of onions..
