The share market made strong gains on Thursday as assembly election results in five states, including Uttar Pradesh, are set to be declared today.
The Sensex surged 2 per cent or 1,091.59 points to 55,738.92 and Nifty 50 was up by 1.81 per cent or 295.50 points at 16,640.85.

Nifty 50, climbing nearly 7 per cent.
