If you are facing trouble while making online transactions or net banking then this news is for you. Recently, due to the merger of several public-sector banks, banks will have to get new IFSC codes (Indian Financial System Codes) in accordance with the post-merger regulations. If your bank is among those listed in the mergers, the old IFSC codes will no longer be valid for online transactions through NEFT, RTGS or IMPS routes.
Syndicate Bank, Allahabad Bank, Dena Bank, United Bank of India, Vijaya Bank, the Oriental Bank of Commerce, Andhra Bank and Corporation Bank are the banks whose merger has been announced. The account holders of these will have to get their IFSC codes updated from the
bank or the online web portal to continue online transactions and net banking.
How to change the IFSC of your bank branch:
To change the IFSC code and get a new one, you have to visit the official website of the bank and register for the new IFSC code by filling in your details like name, bank account number, etc. In case one has other queries, they can always call the bank on their toll-free number. The same rules apply to phone banking. If one fails to make these changes, it would result in the non-conduction of monetary transactions.
Finance Minister, Nirmala Sitharaman had announced the merger of ten public-sector banks into four in August 2019.
