On the first day of his visit to Australia, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal yesterday attended a series of meetings and interactions with stakeholders. The Commerce and Industry Ministry said that Mr Goyal attended a business roundtable hosted by the Business Council of Australia featuring prominent Australian and Indian CEOs. The Minister invited Australian business leaders to explore the opportunities presented by the high and sustained economic growth in India. He also met senior representatives from the Australian pension funds.
Discussions focused on the robust policies and reform agenda of the Government
of India which have boosted investor confidence. During the meeting, Mr Goyal encouraged greater investments into the emerging sectors in the Indian market such as renewable energy, manufacturing, education, fintech and agritech.
The Minister also interacted with the representatives of the Indian community at the Sydney Cricket Ground and hosted the Consulate General of India. He lauded them for their contributions to the Australia-India relationship and said that their success stories are the golden threads in the fabric of strengthening bilateral relations.
