Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has said that India has the potential to reach 100 billion US dollars in combined exports from the Food & Beverage (F&B), agriculture, and marine products industries in the next five years.

Addressing on the sidelines of Indusfood 2025 in New Delhi, the Minister emphasised that the target is achievable, requiring a combined annual growth rate of 14 to 15 percent.

Mr Goyal highlighted Government’s unwavering support to the Food and Beverages sector. He said, the government has allowed 100 per cent Foreign Direct Investment in the F&B sector and makes it easier for foreign nationals to obtain work permits to establish businesses in India.

The Minister urged Indian companies to invest



in innovation, better packaging, sustainability and to mechanise their processes to enhance hygiene and efficiency. He encouraged stakeholders to develop high-value nutrition products that can be used by the Government for its food security programmes in the country

On promoting sustainability in the food industry, Mr Goyal highlighted the government’s focus on making farming processes more sustainable, promoting organic farming, and expanding food testing laboratories across the country.

Additionally, the Minister pointed out the growing success of pre-packaged, ready-to-eat foods from India abroad, particularly millets, pickles, and spices, which are gaining traction both domestically and internationally.
