Police on Sunday exhumed the remains alleged to be of girlfriend-killer Udyan Das’s parents from a house located in Sundar Nagar locality in Raipur.
Das (32), who had killed his live-in partner Akanksha Sharma and buried her body in a marble platform in his house in Bhopal, had on Saturday confessed to killing his parents and burying their bodies in the garden of the house.
A joint team of Raipur, West Bengal and Bhopal police reached Das’s old residence in Raipur on Sunday morning. The remains were exhumed, and would be sent to a forensic science laboratory in Hyderabad for DNA testing, police said.
Raipur IG, Pradeep Gupta told HT that they were questioning Das, and expected more details from him.
The 32-year-old had sold the house to an advocate in 2013, three years after he killed his parents, according to police sources.
Das first strangulated his mother and later killed his father as they were scolding
him for failing in engineering exams.
As per sources, after killing his parents, Das had also got death certificates prepared from Itarsi (Madhya Pradesh).
Das was the only child of his parents and used to live with them at Raipur. His father was a foreman with BHEL while his mother worked as a data analyst at Vindhyachal in Bhopal. They had three houses at Raipur, Delhi and Bhopal, the combined rent of which came up to Rs 80,000 per month. Das’s mother also received a monthly pension of Rs 30,000.
Meanwhile, sources said Das came in contact with Akanksha through ‘Orkut’, a defunct social networking portal, in 2007, and had convinced her that he was professional based in US.
Akanksha a native of Bankura in West Bengal had left her parents’ house in June 2016, and met Das in Delhi. The duo then reached Bhopal, where their relationship turned sore, ending in her murder about 20 days later.
