Hyderabad: The Humayun Nagar police on Wednesday arrested a car driver, Y. Laxman, 24, on charges of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old polytechnic student after luring her into the room of a security guard of a park in Vijaya Nagar Colony on Mehdipatnam here.
According to the police, Laxman was working in the same cement company where the girl’s father too was employed as a driver. Laxman was a regular visitor to their home as well, and in the pretext of meeting her father, slowly developed a friendship with the girl. Police said he used to take her to the park in the colony as well. On December 23, he gave some money to the security
guard in the park and asked him to go out for some time. He then took the girl to the park and into the room of the security guard, where he allegedly violated her.
However, the frightened girl kept quiet about the incident. It was only after her mother noticed a change in her behaviour over the last few weeks that she opened up about what had happened, that too after persistent questioning.
Based on a complaint from the girl’s parents, the police have booked a rape case under Section 376 of IPC and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act against Laxman and arrested him.
