Hyderabad: The LB Nagar Special Operations Team busted an inter-State drug racket and arrested four persons here on Wednesday. Police seized 108 kg of marijuana, a car and mobile phones, all together worth Rs 14 lakh. The gang was transporting the psychotropic drug from agency area in Araku valley of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh to other cities across the country.
The arrested persons are G Kalyan (21) from Araku, K Balai (25) from Rajasthan, A Sharath Kumar (23) from Araku, B Ram Khara (24) from Odisha. Mukesh from Rajasthan is absconding.
According to the police, Kalyan was earlier involved in peddling and was arrested by the Visakhapatnam police in possession
of 60 kilo grams of the drug. He was released from the jail in October last and the incorrigible offender continued drug peddling.
“He along with his associates procured 108 kg marijuana from Araku agency area in the Andhra Odisha border and transported it to Hyderabad in a car,” police said adding that the same was intended to be sent to Rajasthan to sell it to customers.
They bought Rs 2,000 per kg and sold it for Rs 8,000 to customers in Rajasthan. They packed the drug into 25 sachets weighing three and five kgs each. Following a tip-off, the gang was caught at Chinthalakunta cross road, in LB Nagar.
