Hyderabad: A 15-year-old girl student was allegedly abducted and killed by unidentified persons in Ranga Reddy district of Telangana, police said today.
The incident occurred late last night near Barwad village of the district when the girl, a ninth standard student, was travelling with her father on a bike, they said. The girl and her father stopped near a borewell to have water when two unidentified persons caught hold of her father and beat him up after which he fell unconscious, while three others forcibly took her away in an auto-rickshaw, Ranga Reddy District Superintendent of Police M Srinivas told PTI, based on a complaint.
"The girl's body was today found around one-km from the village. Her
father lodged a complaint with police and further investigations were on to nab the absconding accused," the SP said.
On media reports that the girl was allegedly sexually assaulted, the SP said the girl seems to have been hit with a stone and strangled and as per preliminary investigation there is nothing to suggest if she was gangraped. "However, we are investigating if she was sexually assaulted," he said.
Bantaram Police Station Sub-Inspector Ravinder said as of now they have registered a case of kidnapping, murder under relevant sections of IPC besides under other provisions of POCSO Act.
"Based on the post-mortem report, the sections may be altered," the SI said.
