Hyderabad: A 17-year-old girl, a college dropout, was allegedly gang-raped by three of her brother-in-law’s friends inside a vehicle at an undisclosed location in Sanathnagar around two weeks ago, following which she confided in her mother on Tuesday and a case was subsequently filed.

While the police refused to divulge further details, they said a case under sections of gang rape, abduction and sections of the Pocso Act was registered and they are making efforts to arrest the accused. They said the girl’s parents worked as daily wage labourers.

The incident evoked memories of the Jubilee Hills gangrape case, wherein a teenager was gang-raped in a car by her acquaintances, causing much concern among residents.

As per the details available, the girl’s mother was away taking care of her grandfather, when three friends of her brother-in-law forced her into a white

car, drove to an unidentified location far from her residence and raped her inside the vehicle.

In the complaint, the girl alleged that she suffered injuries to her private parts and started bleeding, but the accused continued to assault her. Following the incident, they threw the girl out of the car.

When she asked them to drop her home, they allegedly assaulted her again and threatened her elder sister’s life if she revealed the incident to anyone.

While the incident took place two weeks ago, the girl’s mother returned home only on Tuesday, following which she decided to confide in her. Subsequently, a case was registered at the Madhuranagar Police Station and then transferred to the Sanathnagar Police Station.

The police said the girl was sent for a medical examination and counselled.
