A 17-year-old Intermediate dropout was allegedly raped by a 24-year-old co-worker, who took her to Bihar in the pretext of marrying her. The accused was identified as Deepak Lohara, a worker at a poultry farm and a native of Bihar, said the police.

According to the Yacharam police inspector, J. Madan Mohan Reddy, the girl was reported missing by her mother on March 19. “The girl stopped her education after Intermediate due to financial issues and started working at poultry farm, where she met Deepak, who wooed her and pretended to be in love with her and sexually assaulted her in a room at their workplace. He then convinced her to travel to his native place, Bihar with him. Then, according to plan, she left home on March 19 stating that she was going to meet her elder sister at Ibrahimpatnam” said the

official.

As soon as the girl left and when her mom noticed that she did not reach their relatives’ place, the family searched for her and reported her missing. A case was booked and an investigation was started soon after.

During investigation, it was revealed that the duo met at a bus stop and they went to Deepak’s house, where he sexually assaulted her and left for Bihar. “A police team was sent to Bihar which nabbed the youth. The victim was rescued, and both were brought to the the city on a transit warrant” added the police.

The missing person case was later altered to relevant sections of PoCSO Acts and IPC and the accused was placed under arrest. He was produced in court, police said.
