In an unusual incident, a 23-year-old woman reportedly hanged herself to death in repentance, after beating her 18-months-old daughter to death in a fit of rage. It took place in Kondasamudram village of Kandukuru block in Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.
According to Kandukuru police, Paruchuri Bhavyasri, a 23-year-old homemaker allegedly beat her daughter Mahishitha, tired of her relentless crying on Sunday. After beating, she pushed the baby away. Sadly, the baby fell down and her head banged against the floor. She died on the spot due to a head injury.
Bhavya became emotional and felt she had committed the grave sin of killing her daughter. She picked up a piece of paper and penned her
suicide note before going into the bedroom to hang herself from the ceiling. "Nobody is responsible for my death. I am sorry I am leaving all of you,” the suicide note, purportedly scribbled by her, read.
Bhavyasri was from a financially weak background. Her in-laws are into cultivation and husband is a labourer, currently working in Telangana. Her in-laws returned home from the farm in the evening only to find the baby lying dead on the floor and Bhavya dead from the ceiling in the bedroom.
Kandukuru police inspector Narasimha Rao said Bhavyasri was staying with her in-laws as her husband is far from the village. The bodies have been handed over to the bereaved family after a post-mortem at Kandukuru hospital.
