26-year-old woman commits suicide in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A 26-year-old woman committed suicide in her house at Borabanda in SR Nagar here late on Thursday. The woman, identified as Haleema Begum (26), a native of Narayanked of Sangareddy was married to Abdul Asif (30), a resident of Swaraj Nagar in Borabanda in 2018. The couple has a two-year-old son.

According to police, for the last one year, Asif and his family members have been allegedly harassing Haleema over trivial issues. Asif reportedly abused her saying she was not beautiful



and was fat and threatened that he would leave her and marry another woman.

Unable to take the harassment, the victim informed her mother about ending her life and hanged herself from the ceiling fan in her room. On receiving information, the SR Nagar police reached the spot and took up an investigation. The body was shifted to the Gandhi Hospital morgue and was later handed over to the family after an autopsy on Friday afternoon.
