29 arrested for betting on cockfights

Hyderabad:West zone task force sleuths on Sunday raided a house in Sri Krishna Nagar in Jubilee Hills and arrested 29 people for cockfight betting. Main accused are two organisers, Malle Venkata Krishna (39) and Thanneru Venkata Prasad (49), residents of Jubilee Hills. One is a native of Nellore, the other Prakasam.

Krishna, a building material supplier, was not



earning sufficient money to meet expenses. He and Prasad hatched a plan to organise cockfight betting from punters at a penthouse in Jubilee Hills.

Police raided the premises and arrested all the accused. Police also seized 17 cocks, along with 60 short knifes, 26 mobile phones and Rs.80,150 from the possession of the accused persons.
