3 fake cops arrested by Rachakonda Police

Hyderabad:Three persons impersonating as cops were arrested by the Special Operations Team (SOT), Rachakonda, on Thursday. An air pistol and a Toyota Fortuner in which the trio was travelling were recovered. The trio, who was on their way to Yadadri to settle a land dispute, took cops by surprise by nonchalantly travelling with the police siren on. Among the accused was a home guard with Hyderabad traffic police.

The cops were conducting vehicle checking at LB Nagar when they chanced upon the Fortuner.



“The three were proceeding to Yadadri and carrying a pistol. We stopped the vehicle on the Nagarjunasagar highway and questioned them. They finally confessed that they were posing as cops,” a police official said.

The accused -K Reddy Venkatesh Reddy, T Ashok Reddy and Akki Reddy- told police that they were into real estate dealings. Apart from Rs.36,000, cops recovered a fake ID ‘posing’ the accused to be police sub-inspector and constables.
