In a tragic accident, a three-year-old boy died after being crushed under the wheels of a school bus, in Hayathnagar’s Koheda village, on Friday.
According to the police, the incident took place around 4.30pm when the child, Rishitej Bandaru, an UKG student of Samkreethi Grammar School was returning home from school.
“The child got down from the bus and was walking towards his house, located in a narrow lane, when he suddenly slipped and fell on the road. The bus started moving at the same time and his head came under the vehicle’s rear tyre. He suffered serious injury on his head and died on the spot,” said the Hayathnagar inspector, Satish.
The driver and helper of the
bus, fled from the scene and are still absconding. “We have registered a case against the driver under section 304-A (causing death by negligence) of the IPC. If, after investigation, the school too is found to be at fault, we will book them as well,” the subinspector of Hayathnagar, Raman Goud, added.
The body has been shifted to the city’s Osmania General Hospital mortuary for autopsy. Soon after the incident, several locals staged a protest at the spot. The angry mob even damaged the bus and demanded strict action against the culprits.
Incidentally, this is the fifth case, reported from the city, where a child died after being crushed by a school bus.
