Meerut: A three-year-old girl was left critically injured in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh after a boy put a firecracker in her mouth and lit it on Tuesday. The minor was rushed to a nearby medical facility where her condition is described as serious.
The incident was reported on Diwali eve at the Milak village on the Daurala road in Sardhana, about 450 km from Lucknow. A complaint, against the accused in connection with the matter, was
lodged on Wednesday. The police have launched a manhunt to nab him.
In the complaint to the police, Shashi Kumar, father of the girl, named local youth Harpal. He accused him of stuffing a ‘sutli’ bomb in her mouth and lighting it. He claimed that the girl was playing outside the house when the boy approached her.
The girl reportedly received 50 stitches as the bomb exploded in her mouth. Her throat has also been infected.
