55 eve-teasers held in Old city; counselled

The South Zone police along with SHE Teams, detained 55 people including 25 minor boys while teasing women at public places.

In a special drive conducted by the police at bus stops and also in buses, the police detained six people from Shah Ali Banda, 11 from Falaknuma, nine in Chandrayangutta, four in Chatrinaka, three in Hussaini-Alam, nine minor boys in Bhavani Nagar, 11 in Santhosh Nagar and two minor boys in Madannapet police station limits.

South Zone DCP V Satyanarayana said that women in several parts of Old City of Hyderabad are worried to go alone in public due to the menace of eve-teasing. The college goers and school girls were repeatedly complaining about eve-teasing near educational institutions and at bus stops.

“Teasing of women has crossed the limits and the boys were pinching and even touching the private parts of women during their bus journey. The parents of eve-teasers were also called for the counseling session of minor boys,” he said.
