Hyderabad: A 16-year-old girl was allegedly raped by a 62-year-old man in Uppal, police said on Monday.
The accused, who is a close friend of victim’s father, was arrested, police informed.
The victim was waiting to board a bus at Uppal bus stand when the accused, a resident of Old City and works in a nearby private firm, asked the girl to come along with him, Uppal police said.
The accused convinced the victim by stating he is a very close friend of her father and warned the victim that suspicious people were moving around the bus stand and may harm her, police said adding that thereafter he took her to an isolated place where he raped her.
The accused before performing the act beat the victim badly and threatened her. He
was there with her till night and as the girl started crying he fled the scene, police said.
The victim reached home with bodily injuries and was bleeding. Her parents grew suspicious when the victim returned home crying in pain and when her mother counselled she narrated the entire incident.
The incident that occurred on January 4 came into light on Monday after the locals informed the media. "We received a complaint from the victim’s family members in the early hours of January 4. We immediately sent the victim for medical examination and our team went through the CCTV footage installed near the bus stand and identified the accused and arrested him, a police officer from Uppal police said. A case has been registered.
