Hyderabad: A girl (9) was allegedly raped by a man in Ramanthapur on Thursday. The victim and the suspect are known to each other and belong to the same neighbourhood.
Family of the girl, a Class IV student, migrated to the city from Khammam four months ago. The family was staying in temporary huts at a construction site in TV Colony. Her parents were working at the site.
The incident occurred when the girl went out of the house and the suspect Laxman, who also worked as a labourer in the same construction site, allegedly forcibly took her to his house and raped her. The victim did not reveal this to anyone due
to fear. However, her mother found out when she saw the girl bleeding after she returned home.
“I was worried after seeing her bleeding and questioned her. It was then that she told me what happened,” the mother said, adding that she then took the help of the locals and took the girl to Gandhi Hospital where she was medically examined. The Uppal police were also informed.
“Preliminary investigation has revealed no love angle. The suspect forcibly took her to his house and raped her,” Uppal Inspector P Venkateshwarlu said, adding that efforts were on to nab Laxman.
