A businessman from Sultan Bazaar was duped of Rs 14,310 by cyber fraudsters on Sunday.

According to the police, Niranjan Sahoo (39), a resident of Esamia Bazaar under Sultan Bazaar police station limits checked Google for the customer care number of a financial institution to close his credit card. He found a toll free customer care number 1800412067 and dialed it.

“The



person who responded to the call, claimed to be an executive working with the customer care and sent a link asking him to open it. Upon clicking the link, he received an OTP message which he shared and later noticed that an amount of Rs 14,310 was debited from his bank account,” said Sultan Bazaar Inspector, D Bhikshapathi.

On a complaint, the police booked a case and are investigating.
