Andhra Pradesh: A college student in Andhra Pradesh was killed allegedly by her father over her relationship with a classmate. Vaishnavi, 20, was found dead on Monday morning at her house by neighbours. The father, Venka Reddy has reportedly been taken into custody.

Venka Reddy apparently had an argument with his daughter over her relationship and allegedly strangled her in a fit of rage.

"The father suspected that his daughter was planning to elope with her classmate and in a fit

of rage he strangled her. We have registered a case of suspicious death. It is likely to be changed to murder case once there is forensic confirmation," senior police officer, Srinivas Rao told media.

Vaishnavi was dating a classmate who reportedly belongs to a lower caste. Her father had asked her not to meet him but she refused, say reports.

The police said that Vaishnavi had "neither married her classmate nor eloped with him", only her father did not approve of her relationship.
