Bengaluru: 'Spiritual guru' rapes woman for seven years on pretext of overcoming her life 'hurdles'

Bengaluru: A woman has alleged that she was raped for seven years by a so-called spiritual guru on the pretext of removing her life hurdles. The victim filed a complaint in this regard on Monday in Bengaluru.

Police have booked a self proclaimed guru Ananda Murthy and his wife Latha following a complaint by woman's mother. Cops are now looking for the accused.

The woman claimed she came in contact with the accused during a religious function at her friend's house around seven years ago, according to a report in media.

The so-called guru reportedly told the victim that she would face problems in life and that she needed to perform special rituals to overcome them.

The woman said she trusted the man and



went to his house to perform 'special' puja. She said she was offered a drink by the 'Guruji' and fell unconscious after drinking it.

The victim alleged she found Murthy and his wife sleeping on the same bed while she was lying half naked. She alleged that the couple allegedly sexually abused her and recorded in on their mobile phone.

Later, the woman was allegedly raped multiple by the accused after threatening her with indecent videos. The victim's mother said she came to know about the rape after her daughter's engagement broke some days back.

It is alleged that Murthy and his wife met the fiance of the woman and showed him the videos. The accused also threatend to leak the videos if the man married the victim.
