Hyderabad: A woman employee of the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) committed suicide by hanging herself allegedly due to harassment from her superiors and colleagues in Hafeezpet in Miyapur on Thursday morning. The woman, Neha Chouksey (33), who worked in the accounts department, was a resident of Bhanu Township, Hafeezpet and a native of Kolkata. She was staying with her husband Sunil Khandelwal and in-laws in city.
According to the police, Neha committed suicide around 11 am, when Sunil went to the washroom. She latched the bedroom door from inside and hanged herself from the ceiling fan. As there was no response even after repeatedly knocking on the door, Sunil, with the help of the security guards and
neighbours, forcibly opened the door and found her dead.
“Prior to this incident, she was depressed and hurt, due to harassment from her superiors and colleagues. She had informed her husband about her phone being tapped and hacked,” police said. Neha also left a suicide note alleging harassment from her colleagues, and named more than 10 people including her superiors. Neha’s family told police that she joined the Hyderabad office in June. Before that she was working in the Bhopal branch of the BHEL, where too she had complained of similar harassment.
They alleged that those in Bhopal had instigated people here to harass her. The Miyapur police is investigating.
