Hyderabad: The body of a 21-year-old B.Tech student, who was suffering from various ailments, was found hanging from the ceiling in her home at Ibrahimpatnam on Tuesday.
The girl, identified as P Vanisri, was a B.Tech fourth year student at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) here. According to the police, on Tuesday around 11.30 a.m., her mother went to a neighbourhood shop leaving her alone and returned in 15 minutes. On finding the main door locked and with no response from the girl, the mother tried to call her through the window. It was then that the girl was seen hanging from the ceiling, said K Linga Swamy,
Sub-Inspector, Ibrahimpatnam.
The mother immediately alerted the neighbours, who brought the girl down and rushed her to a nearby private hospital. But she died on the way, the SI said, adding that it was suspected that the girl could have committed suicide due to depression over chronic ailments she was suffering from over the last few months. She had stopped going to college as well, he said.
The body has been shifted to the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) morgue for autopsy on Wednesday while police have registered a case under Section 174 (suspicious death) of CrPC. Further investigation is on.
