Hyderabad: Depressed over failing to pay college fee, an Intermediate student of a private college jumped from the college building in Ibrahimpatnam, the police said on Sunday.

Pavan Naik (17) of Warangal district was pursuing Intermediate second year course at Narayana Junior College in Bongulur of Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy district.  On Saturday afternoon, Pavan went to the third floor of the college building and jumped.

The college management, who found him lying in a pool of blood, rushed him to a private hospital where

he is undergoing treatment. Inquiries revealed that the Pavan’s father works as a DCM driver and they had to clear Rs. 20,000 fees.

“Payment of fees is one of the reasons. A few days ago, a faculty member told Pavan to concentrate on studies, as he performed poorly in internal examinations.

The teenager was depressed ever since and tried to end his life,” Adibatla Inspector T. Ashok Kumar said.

The boy sustained multiple fractures on both the legs and is under treatment at a private hospital. The police are investigating.
