Constable's wife suicide over dowry

Hyderabad: Dowry harassment by a police constable claimed the life of his 21-year-old wife in Hyderabad. According to sources, the deceased woman Pooja, 21, pursuing engineering at Aurora Engineering College in city, was married to Praveen Kumar one-and-half year ago.

Both were in love for many years and parents of the deceased woman accepted their marriage after Praveen got selected as a CRPF constable. On October 14, when Praveen returned



home afternoon his wife did not open the door. Suspecting something foul, Praveen entered the house from neighbour’s house, and found his wife hanging to the ceiling.

The Kanchanbagh police, who inspected the scene of incidence, recovered a dairy, in which Pooja wrote about the harassment by her husband for dowry. The police registered a case against Praveen Kumar under Section 302 and 304 (B) of IPC and sent him to judicial remand on Monday.
