A 65-year-old man who suffered grievous injuries after his son attacked him with a brick a week ago, succumbed while undergoing treatment at Pragathi Nagar, Jawaharnagar, on Saturday.

Jawaharnagar police said on June 25, Prakash, 65, was attacked by his son Santosh while the former was sleeping. There was a dispute between the victim and accused, who is a painter, in connection with a property at Neredmet.

"Santosh was expecting his father to transfer the property



on to his name, while Prakash had not made any decision. He made his father consume alcohol and later when Prakash was sleeping, Santosh attacked him with a brick on his head," Jawaharnagar police said.

According to police, neighbours alerted Prakash's daughter, who resides in Neredmet, about the offence. She rushed to the spot and later shifted him to hospital. Police who had earlier booked Santosh under Section 307 (attempt to murder) of the IPC altered the case to 302 (murder) of the IPC
