A self-proclaimed baba who allegedly cheated several persons on the pretext of curing them through spiritual powers was arrested by Hussaini Alam police on Sunday.
The accused, Sayyed Tipu Sultan, a resident of Doodh Bowli in Hyderabad had duped two persons by claiming that he would cure their ailments, and collected money from them. The victims Jawed Khan and Mohd Irfan approached the accused after learning about his spiritual powers through social media.
“Tipu Sultan told Irfan and Jawed that someone had
performed black magic on them due to which they were falling sick frequently, impacting their productivity at work,” Ramesh Kotwal, Station House Officer, Hussaini Alam police station, said.
Ramesh further said that Tipu Sultan used to collect huge money from people on the pretext of solving issues related to personal life, business, health, marriages and jobs.
A case under Section 417, 420 and 384 of Indian Penal Code was registered against Tipu Sultan and he was remanded.
