Father attacks daughter, son-in-law for inter-caste marriage in Hyderabad

A young couple who got married against the wishes of their parents last week were attacked by the girl’s father at SR Nagar here on Wednesday.

In the attack that took place amid the outrage against the honour killing of Pranay in Miryalguda, the couple have been admitted to hospital with severe injuries.

According to Vijay Kumar,. Punjagutta ACP, Madhavi (20) had an inter-caste marriage with Sandeep(23) against the wishes of her parents last week. Since then, her father, Manohar Chary was angry and was



waiting to teach a lesson to the young couple.

On Wednesday late afternoon, Manohar followed Madhavi and Sandeep at SR Nagar and attacked them with a sickle. Sandeep was attacked first and even as he attempted to escape and run away, Manohar attacked Madhavi and left her seriously injured on the road.

Madhavi was shifted to a private hospital for treatment at Sanath Nagar where her condition is stated to be critical. The condition of Sandeep is reported to be stable.
