Hyderabad: The police on Sunday arrested five persons in connection with a gangrape reported 10 days ago, wherein the suspects had lured a woman on the pretext of offering her a lift and allegedly raped her at an isolated area near the abandoned railway quarters at Prashanthnagar.
The police said that they managed to zero in on the accused using CCTV footage. "One of the accused trapped the woman by offering to drop her home," east zone DCP Sunil Dutt said.
Dutt identified the accused as Barna Yesu, Seetha Madhu Yadav,
Sirigiri Prashanth Kumar, Pastham Tharun Kumar and Keshojuva Rohith. "They were produced in court and sent to judicial remand," he said.
The police said on December 7, the woman, in her early 30s, was on her way home when Yesu offered to drop her home on his scooter. He took her to the isolated spot, called the other accused and assaulted her, following which Madhu dropped her at Tarnaka.
The woman approached the police, filing a case under sections of gangrape and abduction.
