Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) sleuths seized a huge amount of foreign currency from two passengers in two separate incidents at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) at Shamshabad here on Thursday. The DRI sleuths detained both the passengers and recovered foreign currency worth over Rs 1.4 crore. In the first incident, the DRI sleuths seized Rs 55 lakh worth
currency of various countries, including US dollars, from one Ahmed who was trying to check in with his luggage.
The currency was packed in his cabin luggage. Over Rs 85 lakh worth currency of different countries was found in the luggage of one Haider bound for Dubai. The officials caught the accused with the currency when he entered the airport premises.
