A Uganda national was arrested by Cyber Crime sleuths of Rachakonda on Friday for allegedly cheating a city-based man.Rachakonda police said that Fredrick Ssebugenyi, 27, posted an advertisement on OLX, offering to sell Toyota Fortuner. KB Reddy of Vanasthalipuram while browsing OLX in search of used cars, stumbled upon the advertisement. He immediately called up Fredrick to enquire about the details of the SUV.

Fredrick introduced himself to Reddy as Kadambi Lakshmi living abroad and claimed his mother hailed from Andhra Pradesh. The cheat told the victim that he had left his car in the custody of RGI Airport authorities.

The accused gave the details of one Sonia, who, he

told the victim, was the clearance and forwarding officer at the airport. But the fact is that she is the friend of Fredrick.

Sonia demanded Rs.1.86 lakh from the victim towards parking fee, maintenance and other expenses as the vehicle was parked at the airport for over a month. Unless the fee was paid, he would not be allowed to inspect the vehicle, she said. Convinced by the argument, the victim promptly deposited the amount in the account provided by Sonia.

Later, the victim was asked to deposit more money in the account citing various reasons. Suspecting foul play, the victim approached police, who in turn arrested the Uganda national from Bangalore.
