A four-year-old boy was kidnapped and killed, allegedly by his uncle who bore a grudge against the child’s mother over a family dispute at Pahadishareef on Saturday.
The boy, Laxmi Narasimha alias Lucky, was staying with his parents, Vinod Kumar and Maheshwari, and siblings at Rajiv Gruhakalpa in Laxmiguda Colony at Mailardevpally. While Vinod is a private employee, Maheshwari is a junior artiste with the Telugu film industry.
According to the police, the suspect Veeresh Kumar, the husband of Maheshwari’s younger sister Laxmi, developed a grudge against her believing that she was influencing Laxmi and creating issues between them.
“On Saturday
morning, he went to Maheshwari’s house around 10 am and kidnapped Lucky, who was playing,” said Purushotham Reddy,
ACP Vanasthalipuram, adding that the kidnapped boy was taken to Sriram Colony in Pahadishareef, where he was strangled to death using a wire at a private scrap dumping yard.
Relatives, who realized the child was missing, approached the Mailardevpally police in the evening and lodged a complaint. They told the police that they suspected Veeresh, following which he was taken into custody and questioned. Police said he confessed to the killing, after which the child’s body was recovered.
A case of kidnap and murder was booked and is being investigated.
