A housewife was set on fire by her husband at their house in Santoshnagar on Wednesday morning reportedly following a quarrel.
Police said the man, Salman, used to complain that Sania was disinterested in household work and was not talking to him. “Agitated by her behaviour, Salman doused her with kerosene and set her on fire. She was burnt to death,” said Santoshnagar inspector A. Bhojya.
After the incident, Salman left the child behind and
fled. Locals who heard the commotion called the police. The child was handed over to a shelter home.
According to the police, Salman, met Sania, a native of Punjab, about five years ago while she was performing in Hyderabad as a dancer in an orchestra and married her. The couple had a child and was staying in Santoshnagar.
Santosh Nagar Police booked a case under section 302 (murder) of IPC.
