An intermediate student committed suicide after being worried over her marks. K. Sreeja is believed to have jumped from the fifth floor of her apartment building at Saroornagar. She later succumbed to her injuries. Sreeja, a first-year student of Sri Gayathri College, had been anxious about her examination results, which are not out yet.
According to the police, she jumped from the balcony at around 6am.
“She sustained serious injuries during the fall and was rushed to hospital for treatment. She then
succumbed after few hours during treatment,” said Saroornagar Inspector of Police S. Lingaiah.
The girl was under serious pressure after she wrote her examination. “She prepared well and was hoping to get high marks. But after writing the papers, she came to a conclusion that it would be difficult to get the high scores that she was hoping for. She had been brooding over and was anxious about her result,” said another police officer. Police have booked a case and have started an investigation.
