Junior judge held for rape in Hyderabad

A junior judge, who was earlier placed under suspension, was arrested by the Chikkadpally police on charges of raping and assaulting a woman lawyer here on Tuesday. The woman had recently lodged a complaint with the police against Thungathurthy Junior Field Judge of Suryapet, Satyanarayana, stating that he had promised to marry her and allegedly raped her on several occasions. Both were residents of Chikkadpally.

However, when he recently got engaged to another woman, the woman lawyer approached the police and lodged a complaint against him, seeking justice. Based on her



complaint, a case was booked under relevant sections for rape and assault under the Indian Penal Code and the SC/ST Act.

“During the probe, all the allegations proved to be true. We have got enough evidence against him. After following all necessary norms of getting permission from the High Court and the District Judge, he was arrested,” police said.

Satyanarayana was earlier suspended after the case was booked against him. On Tuesday, he was produced before the court and remanded in judicial custody.
