A 40-year-old person, who allegedly strangled his wife during an argument between them on Saturday, was arrested by the Mailardevpally police here on Sunday.
According to police, the suspect, P Borah, a resident of Babulreddy Nagar in Rajendranagar and native of Arunachal Pradesh, migrated to the city in 2013. He got married two times. After he divorced his wife Anima, Borah married his second wife, Tutu Borah, in 2010, police said, adding that the couple had three children. Borah was working as a security supervisor at Maintenance Management Security Services in Patancheruu.
Shamshabad Deputy Commissioner of Police PV Padmaja said the suspect and his wife were not on good terms. “Tutu was an alcohol addict. She used to get out of the home without informing her husband
for several days. Though Borah asked her to change her behaviour, she remained reluctant and continued to be the same,” she said. Three days ago, Tutu left home and returned on Saturday morning. An argument broke between the couple when Borah suspected his wife’s behaviour.
“On Saturday, during the argument, Borah hit her head to the wall leading to severe bleeding. He later strangled her neck by using a dupatta,” she said, adding that after the incident the suspect attempted to kill himself by hanging but he couldn’t do so. Based on a complaint lodged by the relatives, police have booked a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code. The suspect was produced before the court remanded in judicial custody.
