Man booked for sexually assaulting granddaughter

The Tukaram Gate police have registered a case against a 64-year-old man on charges of sexually assaulting his nine-year-old granddaughter.

The incident, which occurred a week ago, came to light on Friday, after the child complained  of pain in her private parts and her mother took her to hospital, where doctors found injuries on her private parts. The child, a Class 2 student, then revealed to her mother that a week ago, her grandfather had



touched her private parts and all over her body when she was sleeping beside him, said G.Ramesh, Inspector, Tukaram Gate police.

The woman then lodged a complaint with the police on Friday, following which the police booked a case under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code and also the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Investigation is on, but the suspect, however, is yet to be arrested.
