After paying Rs 7 lakh to a person who promised to arrange jobs for his son and daughter in the Indian Railways, a man from Neredmet approached the police and lodged a complaint against the accused for cheating.

According to Neredmet inspector A. Narsimha Swamy, the complainant, Mr K. Mallesh, 56, of East Chandragiri Colony, complained that about four years ago he had given Rs 3 lakh to one Donthi Bal Reddy, a resident of Sri Rama Colony in Saket Road, to help his son K. Karthik get a job as a booking counter

clerk.

Mr Mallesh’s son-in-law also paid Rs 4 lakh for a job for his daughter, Ms M. Niharika, as a storekeeper in the railways. For the last four years, Reddy has been stalling on the matter. When Mallesh pressurised him, Reddy gave two cheques of Rs 1 lakh each and failed to return the remaining amount.

The inspector said that as Reddy had not returned the money, Mr Mallesh lodged a complaint. A case has been registered under section 420 of IPC and investigation has been taken up, he said.
