Dabeerpura police arrested Akbar Ali Khan aka Hyder, who is accused of killing his wife, on Wednesday, shortly after Dubai immigration authorities deported him. The accused was picked up by city police at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad.

Khan, allegedly killed his wife, Zeba Naaz, 30, on May 20, then stuffed her body in a bag and dumped it near Dabeerpura railway station late at night. Locals smelled a foul odour emanating from a white plastic bag near the railway station and alerted the police.

The couple were married in 2010 in Farat Nagar in Dabeerpura. They have three sons. Khan had been living in Dubai for the last three years. Investigations revealed that due to marital disputes, the deceased was staying with her mother Sakeena Begum in Pardah Gate area under Narayanguda PS limits.

Deputy

Commissioner of Police (south zone) V Satyanarayana said that after killing his wife, Khan immediately fled to Dubai. Dabeerpura police obtained his travel details from the Bureau of Immigration (BOI) and shot off a requisition to the Regional Passport Office at Secundrabad to impound his passport.

Regional Passport authorities immediately impounded Khan’s passport, and communicated this to the Indian Embassy at Dubai. Later, the Indian External Affairs Ministry and Dubai authorities revoked his passport and deported him.

Prior to this, police issued a Look out Circular (LoC) at all airports across the country, preventing Khan from entering India from any other place other than Hyderabad.

The accused has been sent to judicial remand after being produced in court.
