A 35-year-old man was found murdered by unidentified persons at Chaderghat area in Afzalgunj here in the wee hours of Sunday. He was attacked with stones and sticks by the attackers, killing him instantly, police said.
Police suspect an extra-marital affair or some previous enmity to be the cause of the murder. The man was identified as Deepak Singh, a labourer who used to stay on the pavement near Sai Baba temple in Chaderghat area.
On Sunday morning, the passersby found him dead lying in a pool of blood on the pavement. He had deep injuries on head and other parts of the body.
Following information, the Afzalgunj police visited the spot along with
the CLUES team and Dog Squad. A murder case was booked and being investigated.
According to Afzalgunj police, Singh is suspected to have been
attacked while he was in an inebriated condition. A previous enmity is suspected to have led to the murder.
Police said Singh who was a drunkard had frequent fights with other labourers and vagabonds in the area over them occupying places on the pavement. Apart from this, for the past two months, he had been having an alleged affair with a woman. Police suspect either of the two as the reason for the murder.
The Afzalgunj police formed a special team to nab the suspects. The surveillance camera footage was collected from the surrounding areas near to the crime spot and being examined.
All surrounding slums, huts and railway stations, bus stations are also being checked, police said. Deepak Singh’s body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital and preserved for an autopsy.
