Sleuths of the Central Crime Station (CCS) arrested branch manager, Mirza Asadullah Baig alias Taqi, of Karwane Syed-Us-Sajidin, known as KSS Tours and Travels, for allegedly cheating Umrah and Ziyarath pilgrims of Rs.5crore.
The branch of KSS Tours and Travels is located in Noorkhan Bazar, Dabeerpura area, Old City. The company was being run by chairman Altaf Hussain, who was arrested by the Kadapa district police of Andhra Pradesh, last month.
Karwane Syed-Us-Sajidin’s Umrah & Ziyarath tours were started in Kadapa, but the chairman had also opened a branch at Dabeerpura in 2017 and appointed Taqi as branch
manager.
The CCS police said on the pretext of Umrah and Ziyarath pilgrimage, Altaf along with others collected nearly Rs.5 crore from 1,500-1,600 pilgrims. The arrested accused allegedly attracted innocent people by widely publicising their packages through public address system in the Old City. They claimed they would arrange pilgrimage under packages costing between Rs.18,000 to Rs.36,000.
“We are obtaining the confession of KSS Travels chairman Altaf Hussain. Shortly he will be brought to Hyderabad on prisoners’ transit warrant,” said inspector CCS K Srinivas Rao.
